2023 has only just begun a few hours ago, and the motorsport world is already mourning. During the night from Monday 2nd to Tuesday 3rd January, American rally driver Ken Block tragically passed away as a result of a snowmobile accident.
It is with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away today in a snowmobile accident. Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And above all, a father and a husband. He will be incredibly missed, stated Hoonigan, his team, via an Instagram post.
The world of sports wanted to pay tribute to him, starting with the president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem. « I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Ken Block. An inspiration to us all and a true gentleman of our sport. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during these difficult times. RIP »,” he tweeted.
The man known for his Gymkhana videos with his Subaru, Ford, and Audi had the opportunity, in 2014, to challenge Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes in a demonstration in Sonoma.
