The F1 remains cautious regarding the announcement of Andretti/Cadillac

Mixed feelings between Andretti, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, and Formula 1. While on Thursday, January 5th, Michael Andretti announced a partnership with Cadillac, potentially joining Formula 1, statements followed one after another.

There was first the joy of the two entities announcing their partnership. This was followed by the joy of FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. But, there is that of Stefano Domenicali, who takes a more cautious and delicate approach than the other players in this matter.

A ticket to enter costs 200 million.

“There is currently a great interest in the F1 project with a number of ongoing discussions that are not as visible as others,” he stated via a statement.

We all want to ensure that the championship remains credible and stable, and that any request for a new commitment is evaluated by all relevant stakeholders based on criteria that allow us to achieve these objectives. Any new request for commitment requires the agreement of F1 and the FIA.

For several months now, the American has expressed his desire to join the discipline, but he faces various reservations that, for the time being, have not allowed him to be welcomed. However, if the project were to materialize, Andretti would have to pay a whopping 200 million dollars to compensate the other teams. An amount that he would be willing to put on the table.
