She only experienced half a season of Formula 1. The Ferrari 643 was introduced by the Scuderia halfway through the 1991 season, at the French Grand Prix. Jean Alesi and Alain Prost were behind the wheel. The engine produced 710 horsepower at 13,800 rpm and went through a seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox, a technology that Ferrari had developed two years earlier.

On February 1st, it will be chassis 127, driven by the native of Avignon, which will be for sale. With this vehicle, the French driver achieves a fourth place finish at Le Castellet and has to retire at Silverstone after a collision. This car is once again used at the end of the year by Gianni Morbidelli, in Australia.

At the end of the 1991 season, chassis 127 was completely refurbished at the Maranello factory and sold to a collector from South Africa. He kept it until 2010 and had it maintained by two mechanics from the Scuderia who traveled to work on the car and periodically started its engine. It is said that the engine and gearbox have only traveled 300 kilometers since being put back into service, as stated by RM Sotheby’s, the company responsible for the sale of the single-seater.

After being sold to a German enthusiast in 2016, chassis 127 underwent a complete restoration. The transmission, suspension, and brakes have all been revised, the engine meticulously inspected and brought back into service, and the Ferrari made its reappearance at the Minardi Days 2018 event in Imola. It then participated in the Oldtimer Grand Prix 2020 at the Nürburgring, and is offered for sale with all the necessary technical equipment for its operation. The Ferrari is eligible for enjoyment in historical car racing series such as Formula Legends 3.5L and Ignition GP.

According to RM Sotheby’s, the Ferrari 643 could fetch between 2.9 and 3.4 million euros.
