Saudi Arabia Grand Prix: Pirelli opts for mid-range tires

Although the layout of Jeddah has undergone modifications to enhance circuit safety, it remains very fast. That’s why the tire selection remains the same as last year, as announced by Mario Imola, Pirelli’s motorsport manager. Therefore, the tire compounds will be C2 (white – medium tires), C3 (yellow – soft tires), and C4 (red – super soft tires).

Tire strategy a major factor in winning the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

The choice of tires will be decisive on the urban circuit of Jeddah. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix focuses more on lateral forces unlike the Bahrain Grand Prix, which focused on traction and braking, according to the Pirelli representative. The strategy to win this GP will primarily revolve around the durability of the tires chosen by the teams. Last year, the Red Bull and Ferrari teams opted for a strategy focused on tire durability, leading Max Verstappen to first place and Charles Leclerc to second place, after an intense battle.

Another fact to take into account in this race, according to Pirelli, is the good stability of the cars in the fast corners of the Corniche. The track offers a moderate level of grip, but the sand blown onto the surface can have an influence on the low abrasion asphalt.

What will be the result of this year? Tune in on Sunday to find out the winner of the Jeddah Circuit 2023.
