A new customer for 2026? Michael Andretti could have some competition. Indeed, in an interview with CNN, Craig Pollock, the founder of the BAR team, expressed his intentions to return to Formula 1.

This latter wants to join the biggest global car competition under the name Formula Equal. In his project, he would hire 50% men and 50% women.

“Our ambition is to offer and create opportunities and pathways for women to reach the highest level in motorsport,” announced Craig Pollock.

A blurry financing

The concept and idea were to try to build a Formula 1 team with 50% men and 50% women, which is extremely difficult to do if you already have a Formula 1 team; but it’s much easier starting from a blank sheet of paper.

For him, his project is not just about putting a woman behind the wheel, he aims to increase the number of women in the paddock. He believes that they are underrepresented.

Regarding its financing, he is much less talkative and remains vague. « We are in intense discussions with, I would simply say, a country from the Gulf region. »

I’m not really able to talk about it and be fully open on the subject right now – it will come out in the very near future. And I just hope that it will work because… it requires a lot of money.

If Craig Pollok’s candidacy is accepted, the businessman could make his comeback in 2026.
