Alpine has changed numerous parts on Pierre Gasly’s car after the fire
The fire that affected Pierre Gasly's car during the free practice session caused significant damage.
Pierre Gasly’s weekend in Azerbaijan is complicated. This Friday, April 28th, after 15 minutes of driving, the Frenchman suffered a fire on his Alpine due to a hydraulic leak. This incident logically caused significant damage to the car.
The mechanics only had a few hours to repair everything before the qualifying session and replace the damaged components. Therefore, for this session, he benefited from a new engine, turbo, MGU-H, MGU-K, and a new gearbox.
He stays within the boundaries and has no penalty for these changes. However, he had crossed the line after going off track during qualifying. A forgettable day for the French driver as he hit the wall in Q1.
