Flooded F2 Paddock, access prohibited, the situation worsens in Imola

Torrential rains are battering Italy and Imola. The city, located in the Emilia-Romagna region, is at the center of attention due to heavy precipitation. A red weather alert has been issued following these weather conditions.

Floods occurred at the beginning of this week. On Tuesday, May 16th, the Imola circuit, where the Grand Prix is scheduled to take place this weekend, was evacuated of on-site personnel. Team members and security personnel were given 30 minutes to leave the premises.

In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the situation further deteriorated. The mayor of the city, Marco Panieri, ordered the evacuation of new streets in the town. These are located just a few meters from the route.

All individuals present on the ground floor of buildings located in flood-prone areas in immediate proximity to river banks, both in the city center and in the outskirts, are required to immediately move to upper floors or evacuate urgently, the mayor of Imola announced.

According to several videos published on social media and people on site, the Formula 2 paddock is reportedly affected by water. However, the Formula 1 paddock, on the other hand, is currently spared.

The media has been instructed not to go to the circuit at the moment. Therefore, our journalist on site cannot have more information currently.
