Esteban Ocon present for the Excellence Alpine Contest finale 2023
After the success of the first edition, the Alpine Mechanical Excellence Contest has been renewed for 2023. The final took place this weekend, and Esteban Ocon was present to present the trophies to the winners.
The Excellence Alpine Competition was created to bring future mechanics into the spotlight. After several weeks of diverse and varied challenges, there were 8 pairs left in Viry-Châtillon at the BWT Alpine F1 Team site to compete and determine who would win the final.
This competition, created in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, is aimed at students in the field of engine mechanics.
This year, it’s the duo made up of Nicolas Lucien and Lucas Stawsky, both aged 19, who won the competition. They will have the opportunity to live a three-month professional experience at the mechanical assembly workshop of the BWT Alpine F1 Team in Viry-Châtillon, with the possibility of an apprenticeship contract at stake.
Esteban Ocon was present for this final and didn’t fail to congratulate the people in attendance on that day.
« Just like last year, I am impressed by the maturity, talent, and level of expertise of these passionate young individuals who truly have gold in their hands. I want to congratulate all the participants of this second edition and the two winners Nicolas and Lucas. It is a pleasure to know that they will be by our side as members of the BWT Alpine F1 Team, but also to know that this is a learning experience that will serve them for life ».
To succeed in this competition, several qualities are sought after, the juries analyze their social ease, their team spirit as well as their ability to handle stress, essential qualities to evolve in the world of F1.
Recently appointed ambassador of Alpine, Zinedine Zidane was also present for the final: « I had a great day at Viry, it was exciting! And these young people from CEMA are impressive! Their passion for this profession and their desire to push themselves, to do everything to succeed, is remarkable. For me, it was important to have a real peaceful moment with them. I love these exchanges. And if I can share a few things about my experience with them… well, for many of them, reaching this point is quite magical. That’s what it means to have a chance… it resonates with me. »
