Williams is having its fans vote to choose the special Gulf livery

Before the Monaco Grand Prix, Williams announced a collaboration with Gulf Oil for a special livery. However, the car will not be modified for the race in the streets of the principality, but it will be later in the season. The team will sport a modified livery during the Singapore, Suzuka in Japan, and Bahrain Grand Prix.

“We are very happy to announce that a Gulf livery will be seen at the Singapore, Japan, and Bahrain Grand Prix,” stated Mike Jones. “The project aims to give the fans control and place them at the center of our collaboration with Williams.”

A contest for the fans

But the design of the car has not yet been decided. Williams is allowing its fans to vote between four Gulf-colored liveries. This Friday afternoon, the team revealed the first two designs. Williams followers will be able to vote in this “first round” for their favorite car.

The votes will end on June 4th to determine which design, “Bolder than Bold” or “Contemporary,” will advance to the next round. The other two models will be fully revealed on Monday, June 5th, and will be voted on again by Williams’ fans.

“The iconic colors of Gulf have given rise to magnificent liveries throughout the history of motorsport. This year will be no exception,” said Mike Jones, CEO of Gulf Oil International.

A historic partnership

Logan Sargeant and Alexander Albon will therefore be driving the winning car from the tournament starting on September 15th, until October 8th. The second “duel” will take place between the “Visionnary” and the “Heritage”.

Colors that will undoubtedly evoke the livery of McLaren in Monaco during the 2021 edition. Gulf was McLaren’s sponsor at the time and was able to proudly display their traditional colors during that weekend. Since the 2023 season, it is Williams that collaborates with the oil company, with whom relations are tightening.

The winning livery will showcase two iconic brands in motorsport uniting. Our fans have the opportunity to create a sporting history with their decision, bringing this collaboration to life, said James Vowles, Team Principal of Williams.

For several races, the Gulf logo has been present on the Williams mechanics’ overalls. The company had already expressed the desire to present special events like this livery.
