Red Bull wants its 100th victory this weekend in Canada
After winning all the races so far in 2023, Christian Horner revealed that Red Bull is seeking to reach a new level and join the highly exclusive group of teams with 100 victories.
In the 2023 grid, there are only 4 teams and one driver who have accumulated 100 victories in Formula 1: Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Williams, and Lewis Hamilton. This weekend, Red Bull can further inscribe its name in the history books of Formula 1 with a hundredth victory.
The team has been victorious in every race so far in 2023, championship leader Max Verstappen has won five, while his teammate Sergio Perez has had two.
Despite this, Horner insists that the team must not relax and above all, learn from each weekend.
We have learned lessons from the Spanish Grand Prix. We asked ourselves: did we start the race with the right tires? Were the soft tires the best for the first stint? Horner stated to Sky Sports F1.
« So this is one of the lessons to remember and we need to analyze the areas where we can improve. I think we’re taking things weekend by weekend, one session at a time, and not projecting too far ahead. »
The Quest for the Hundredth
The next step in the 2023 F1 calendar is the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, a track that, according to Horner, could represent a new challenge and be very different for the team that wants to win at all costs.
« Canada is a unique circuit. The races there are always exciting. I think it’s a different challenge. There are a lot of low-speed turns, a few high-speed chicanes. Checo has experience, just like Max, and I think the weather can always be a factor. »
We are at 99 wins, so we are determined to try to win the hundredth one this weekend.
