Two speeding drivers in Canada
The wallets are going to be lighter. Lance Stroll and Yuki Tsunoda were caught by the FIA radars during the second free practice session.
Did the lack of track time in the morning in Canada itch them? It seems so. After a shortened session due to a technical issue at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the drivers were able to hit the track in the afternoon for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
During this session, things sped up because the teams had an extra 30 minutes of track time to make up for lost time. The drivers, too, wanted to put the pedal to the metal. Sometimes too much so.
Lance Stroll was caught driving at 97.8 km/h in the pit lane, which is 17.8 km/h above the allowed limit. He must pay a fine of 1,000 €. Yuki Tsunoda was also caught speeding, but only by 0.4 km/h. The fine is less steep: 100 €.
