McLaren adorns itself with chrome and prepares a surprise for Silverstone
In the morning, McLaren changed its profile pictures on social media, showing its logo sporting the chrome color. A teaser featuring the Google Chrome logo was also released.
On the official McLaren F1 account on Twitter and Instagram, the profile picture has changed, making way for the brand logo, with a little subtlety: it is chrome instead of orange.
Meanwhile, teasers have been posted. One showing Lando Norris entering a room to discover something, the other showing the McLaren rim in Google Chrome colors. In this last teaser, the Google Chrome brand is identified and it is noted “coming today.”
A return to chrome color and a teaser with Google Chrome, this is quite vague for the fans. Some are mentioning the idea of a special “chrome” livery for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend. Indeed, 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of the creation of Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Ltd. With 8 constructor championships and 12 driver championships in its Formula 1 history, McLaren could therefore celebrate its 60th anniversary at Silverstone, at home.
The silver or chrome livery of the silver arrows notably adorned McLaren’s F1 cars between 1997 and 2015, for a total of 18 years. McLaren, in fact, won their last Formula 1 constructor’s championship in 1998 with these chrome colors, during Mika Häkkinen’s first championship title.
