Las Vegas Grand Prix: A Mercedes double under the spotlight in Las Vegas, Verstappen crowned

George Russell put on a masterful performance at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, dominating the race to secure his second win of the season and the third of his career. Starting from pole position, he held off his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who closed the gap in the final laps but couldn’t catch up, finishing 7 seconds behind. With this result, Mercedes achieves a spectacular one-two finish, bolstered by a flawless weekend including practice sessions, qualifying, and both top spots on the podium.

Behind them, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) completed the podium thanks to an effective strategy and a strong pace. Despite a fierce battle, Charles Leclerc could not compete and finished in 4th position after losing ground to his teammate.

Max Verstappen, although off the podium (5th), has achieved the ultimate goal: his fourth world title.. By finishing ahead of Lando Norris, he increased his lead to an insurmountable 64 points, joining Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel in the club of four-time world champions.

With this double, Mercedes confirms its rise in power in this end of the season, making the most of the atypical conditions of the Las Vegas circuit, marked by cool temperatures and slippery asphalt. However, Red Bull also has reasons to celebrate. Verstappen, despite a race in the background, made history by winning his fourth world title, an accomplishment that underlines his domination throughout the season.

The championship is now heading towards its final stages, where the fight for top positions in the constructors’ standings promises more surprises. The Scuderia, currently second in the constructors’ standings, has reduced its gap with McLaren, the championship leader, by regaining 12 points. Ferrari is now only 24 points behind the British team. On the other hand, Red Bull remains in contention, holding third place with a 53-point gap behind McLaren.
