Fernando Alonso celebrates his 400th Grand Prix with a tribute helmet

When it’s a special occasion, it calls for a special helmet. Fernando Alonso won’t deviate from the norm this weekend at the Mexican Grand Prix. The driver with the most participations in a Formula 1 weekend, the native of Oviedo will pass the mark of 400 appearances during the twentieth round of this 2024 season.

The Aston Martin driver leads Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton in the hierarchy, who have respectively taken part in 353 and 351 races. Fernando Alonso will have to wait a few more weeks to reach the milestone of 400 Grand Prix starts as he currently has 396 appearances with 3 non-participations (Belgium 2001, USA 2005, Russia 2017) and a withdrawal for medical reasons (Bahrain 2016).

His career in the spotlight

The headdress that the Asturias bull will wear in Mexico retraces his entire career in a cinematographic style. Many photos reminiscent of his 21 seasons and his six stables, from Minardi to Aston Martin including Renault, Ferrari, McLaren, and Alpine will be visible. His 32 victories and his 2 world championship titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006 will obviously be highlighted.

The Silverstone team announced that events will take place during the weekend to celebrate Fernando Alonso’s 400th. In search of a 33rd career victory, Fernando Alonso is going through a tough season after his eight podiums in 2023. The Spaniard hopes that the future will be greener for Aston Martin, who has big ambitions for the years to come.
