Max Verstappen: “We have some improvements this weekend”
Max Verstappen has indicated that improvements will accompany Red Bull this weekend in Hungary. As other teams are seriously challenging the Austrian team, the timing is well chosen.
At Silverstone, Red Bull and Max Verstappen surely didn’t expect to see McLaren so close in terms of pace in qualifying and the race. However, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri remained close to the Dutchman throughout the weekend. Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston Martin are also making progress, although their pace has been far less impressive than McLaren’s.
However, we must not overlook the teams that bring updates to their cars, and Red Bull knows this well. After several races without any improvements, the Milton Keynes-based team is finally making some changes for Hungary.
Even if the threat from other teams is looming, it is not yet very significant for Red Bull, who remains in control. But it is necessary to bring developments to stay on track and achieve the goals. Max Verstappen also says that these changes to the car will allow them to find even more performance for the upcoming races, not just in Hungary.
Improvements for Red Bull
« We have some improvements this weekend. Hopefully they will do what we expect from them, so that we can find extra performances for the upcoming races. Let’s see where we stand on a circuit where we drive with a lot of downforce and where the corners are relatively slow », said the Dutch driver.
To see who will bring further developments and who will be able to challenge Red Bull on the Hungaroring circuit. Will McLaren be able to take another step forward? And what about Mercedes, Ferrari, and Aston Martin? There is a great deal of unknown coming into this weekend, but with the improvements brought by Red Bull, the competition could once again suffer the fate of the Austrian ogre and, above all, the ogre Max Verstappen.
A circuit that he enjoys
The Dutch driver also defines the Hungarian Grand Prix as « interesting ». He relies on the 2022 edition, where starting from 10th place, he managed to win the race after a good management of his tires and weather conditions, but above all, a good strategy from his team. « Last year, it was difficult to make the right decisions with the arrival of rain and colder temperatures, but as a team, we remained calm and made all the right decisions », said the double world champion.
Moreover, he also mentions the track, which he loves: “« It’s an extraordinary circuit to drive on and very technical. It’s a place where I always look forward to returning. » Enough to scare all his opponents.”
