Official: Lance Stroll also extends his contract with Aston Martin
After Pierre Gasly in the morning, it's Lance Stroll's turn to extend his contract. He will continue to drive the Aston Martin, alongside Fernando Alonso, for at least two more seasons.
Certainly, it’s the day of extensions in Austria!
As the drivers arrive today at the Red Bull Ring, already two drivers have announced the extension of their contracts. Pierre Gasly first formalized the signing of a multi-year contract at 10 a.m. this morning. It is now Lance Stroll’s turn, who also announces the extension of his commitment with Aston Martin. He will be linked with the British team at least until the end of 2026, the year of the regulation change.
There are so many things to hope for.
Certainly, this officialization is hardly surprising. As a reminder, Lance Stroll is the son of the team owner: Lawrence Stroll. But his contract was coming to an end at the end of the season. Questions could have arisen about his future if the officialization took too long to come: this is no longer the case.
The Canadian driver, who joined the team in 2019, declares via the Aston Martin press release: “I am super happy to have committed to stay with the team for 2025 and beyond. It’s incredible to see all the progress we have made over the past five years; we have grown so much as a team and there is still so much to look forward to.”
Fernando Alonso – Lance Stroll, duo reconduit
Fernando Alonso – Lance Stroll, renewed duo
Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll’s teammate, had also extended his commitment with Aston Martin earlier in the year for the same duration. The duo will continue to drive the two Aston Martins until the end of 2026. Mike Krack, the team director, is enthusiastic: “The consistency and stability of Lance and Fernando within our team are an excellent platform to continue achieving our ambitions. We look forward to creating more incredible memories and winning new successes together.”
