6 Hours of Spa – Qualifying: Ferrari on pole position, the Iron Dames impress
Ferrari number 50 will start from pole position this Saturday, May 11th at the 6 Hours of Spa. This confirms its good start to the weekend. In LMGT3, the Iron Dames will start for the second time in their history at the top of their category.
There was no photo finish. Ferrari and its number 50 dominated the qualifying session of the 6 Hours of Spa. Antonio Fuoco once again showed that he was faster in the quick lap exercise. The Italian excels in this area and left the competition half a second behind. The Porsche number 5, which set the second best time in 2:03’107”, is 503 milliseconds behind.
Cadillac played its card right this Friday afternoon by obtaining the third fastest time on the Belgian circuit. Alpine managed to place one of its Hypercars in the second qualifying session. Number 35 will start from the eighth position. The sister car, however, failed to get higher than 12th place. Disappointment also for Ferrari as the second red car did not make it past the hyperpole with the 11th fastest time. Finally, Peugeot only achieved the 14th and 16th fastest times in Spa.
Lamborghini, who had high hopes for this third round of the season, took a hit. The Greens will start only from the 17th position, just ahead of the Porsche 38 and the Isotta Fraschini.
In the GT3 category, the Iron Dames have made a bit more of a mark in history. The trio in the Lamborghini 85 were the fastest with a time of 2:20’755”. They are the only ones to have gone under the 2 minutes 21 mark. The Unites Autosport McLaren #95 fell short by 337 thousandths.
The red flag had to be waved during the LMGT3 Hyperpole following the violent crash at Raidillon involving the Manthey Racing Porsche #92. Aliaksandr Malykhin emerged unscathed from the impact.
