Peugeot to present its 9X8 with spoiler at Imola

The spotlight will be on two cars. The 93 and the 94. These two Hypercars have evolved significantly since Qatar. A spoiler has been added and the aerodynamics have greatly improved. And for the first time, they will be up against the other competitors. An opportunity to assess these developments for the first time.

« I think the car is ready for Imola,” estimates Olivier Jansonnie, technical director of Peugeot Sport WEC. « It’s a circuit that has never been used in the FIA WEC championship and that we don’t know very well. We didn’t drive there for tests, but it was also the case in Qatar and we performed well, so I’m not too worried. We worked on simulations and we could see that Imola is a circuit with a strong downforce. »

With these new developments, the brand with the Lion intends to erase the disappointment of Qatar, as a very good result was achievable. As a reminder, number 93 was disqualified after the race.

« Unlike the 9X8 2023, which we had time to optimize and from which we extracted the quintessence, we still have a lot to learn from the 9X8 2024. We know that it is intrinsically more efficient, even if it is still complicated to judge because we do not yet know at what mass and power it will run. We are certain that we have repositioned our car compared to the competition, but to what extent? The first races will tell us.
