The Spaniard will continue the adventure with Aston Martin. Having arrived last year with the team, the double world champion has just extended his contract until 2026.

Fernando Alonso didn’t elaborate on the subject. A short sentence of barely three words to formalize the extension of his contract. « Here to stay », which can be literally translated as « Ici pour rester ».

This announcement ends the speculations about his future. He who was announced, by several media outlets, at Red Bull next year, in place of Sergio Pérez. « Fernando is thirsty for success, he drives better than ever, he is fitter than ever, and he is fully dedicated to making Aston Martin a competitive force. This multi-year agreement with Fernando takes us until 2026, when we will start our factory partnership with Honda for power units. We are looking forward to creating more incredible memories and achieving new successes together, said Mick Krack, Aston Martin’s director.

« We have built a strong working relationship over the past 18 months and share the same determination to see this project through. We have been in constant discussion over the past few months, and Fernando has been true to his word: when he decided he wanted to continue racing, he first came to us. Fernando has shown that he believed in us, and we believe in him.

The double world champion will therefore stay with Lawrence Stroll’s team for at least three seasons. The Spaniard had joined the Greens in 2023 after a stint at Alpine. This first year with the British team ended in fourth place and eight podiums.
