Carlos Sainz Jr. announces himself that he will leave Ferrari by the end of 2024
Lewis Hamilton's arrival at Ferrari in 2025 hastens Carlos Sainz's departure. The Spaniard has reacted on social media.
The Spanish F1 driver will no longer be a member of the Scuderia in 2025. His contract extension was delayed after Charles Leclerc’s on January 25th. Rumors of a split with Ferrari had been circulating within the F1 world, and it is now official as of February 1st. Carlos Sainz has reacted on his social media and had to clarify things himself as Ferrari initially only confirmed the arrival of Lewis Hamilton.
Following today’s news, Ferrari and I will be parting ways at the end of 2024. We still have a long season ahead of us and, as always, I will give my best for the team and for the Tifosi worldwide. News regarding my future will be announced in due course.
Note that the Italian team announced Lewis Hamilton’s signature first, and not Carlos Sainz’s departure. The communication from Maranello also reacted very briefly, along the same lines as the Spaniard: « We still have one more season to give it all together! »
The Spanish driver had joined the Italian team in 2021 to replace Sebastian Vettel. In his first 3 seasons with the red team, he achieved 2 victories: the first one in Silverstone in 2022, and the second one on the Singapore street circuit at the end of 2023. Being compared to Charles Leclerc, he has never finished higher than him in the championship. After finishing his 2021 and 2022 seasons in 5th place, he only ended up in 7th place last December. He has one more season left to improve the statistics of his Italian adventure!
Carlos Sainz will therefore have to find another seat to continue driving in F1 in 2025. Speculations are already circulating, but let’s be patient, a surprise can come so quickly!
