The Ferrari F2001b driven by Michael Schumacher is for sale

A new collector’s item is about to change hands. From August 16th to 19th, RM Sotheby’s will be hosting a new auction in California. And among all the lots offered, one is highly anticipated. It is the Ferrari F2001b, driven by Michael Schumacher at the beginning of 2002.

The company specializing in auctions specifies that chassis 215 will be offered. With this chassis, the German driver won the Australian Grand Prix and finished third in the Malaysian Grand Prix, a few days later. The Red Baron also gave the Scuderia its 150th pole position with this model.

The Ferrari F2001b is the little sister of the F2002. The latter only appeared in the World Championship from the Imola Grand Prix. At the end of the 2002 season, the Scuderia won the constructors’ title and Michael Schumacher became world champion for the fifth time.

Up to nine million for a Schumacher Ferrari

« This sale offers an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a racing car of real historical significance: a car that not only allowed Schumacher to win a famous victory but also played a crucial role in securing his historic fifth Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship title, says RM Sotheby’s.

The company did not disclose its estimate, but it can be obtained upon request. Previous Formula 1 cars from the seven-time world champion have exceeded six million euros, with a record price of nine million euros for the F2003 GA.
