Roldan Rodriguez is said to have signed with Team India for 2008

A Spanish report, recently published, would confirm that the young GP2 driver, Roldan Rodriguez, has signed a contract with Team India, also known as Spyker, for the 2008 season.

The Spaniard was linked for a few weeks to Spyker after having completed some test days for the team based in Silverstone. However, at present, the drivers have not yet been officially confirmed for next year.

« I think so, » confirmed Rodriguez to the Spanish newspaper « El Pais » when asked if he felt ready to compete at the highest level after a good season in GP2 with Minardi Piquet Sport.

In fact, when you’re in GP2, you know there’s a possibility at any moment to move to F1. I knew the opportunity could arise. So I started working towards it since the beginning of the year! Continued the Spaniard.

If this transfer were to become official soon, the Spaniard has already set goals for his first Formula 1 race in Melbourne, Australia.

« I simply wish to achieve the best possible result. » He emphasizes. « I do not wish to commit to anything, but if the car is capable of finishing 21st, I want to be 18th… »

« I cannot give a precise ranking, but my main objective will be to learn as much as possible and to make the most of the conditions during the race… » concluded Rodriguez.
