Renault confirmed today, following the announcement of its appearance before the WMSC, its intention to fully cooperate with the FIA during this hearing, as well as with McLaren-Mercedes.
The leaders of the Renault F1 Team have indeed been summoned to appear before the FIA court on December 6 in Monaco to defend themselves in a spying case involving McLaren, since September 2006, notably by possessing several CDs of confidential data.
Renault risks losing, just like McLaren, its points in the 2007 championship if it turns out that the ‘stolen’ data could have allowed the R27 to perform better.
Nonetheless, according to its spokesperson, the French team does not believe they have anything to be ashamed of and will continue to cooperate with the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) experts.
« Since this matter arose, we have acted with full transparency towards McLaren and the FIA. We will therefore continue to act in this way, » he commented.
