With newly designed single-seaters, the former Spyker team renamed Force India F1 Team will begin three days of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona from November 13 to 15.
The team will use two Ferrari engines to defend their chances under their new colors in the image of India. The cars will be equipped with the now mandatory electronic package.
Force India contacted drivers such as Roldan Rodriguez and Giedo Van der Garde for the occasion, who will tackle the complexities of the circuit on the first day.
Adrian Sutil, the team’s driver, will be joined by former Honda test driver Christian Klien and former Toro Rosso driver Tonio Liuzzi on the other two days.
Rodriguez participated this season in the GP2 championship with the Minardi Piquet Sports team. His best result of the year was a podium at the Hungarian Grand Prix in August. Before GP2, he competed for several seasons in the Spanish Formula 3 championship, finishing second in 2006, in the Euroseries 3000, and in the Italian F3000 championship. He was also a test driver for the Minardi F1 Team in 2005.
After a solid career in the junior category, Klien moved directly to F1 with the Jaguar Racing team in 2004 and stayed with the team, which had changed its name to Red Bull Racing, until 2006. This year, he was the reserve test driver for the Honda team. As a result, the 24-year-old Austrian has four years of F1 experience under his belt.
Tonio Liuzzi raced this season for Toro Rosso. The Italian achieved his best result at the end of the season, with a sixth place in China. He won the F3000 championship title in 2004 before moving to F1 and joining the Red Bull Racing team in 2005 before moving to Toro Rosso in 2006.
