Sébastien Bourdais is no longer a ChampCar driver, but the four-time world champion from 2004 to 2007 still has his say in the discipline.
The Frenchman, who is currently driving for Toro Rosso and participating in private testing in Barcelona, has placed his bets on Will Power to win the title next season.
« All I can say is that Will Power is obviously the strongest at the moment », said Bourdais.
« He really performs solid tests with many kilometers covered and especially at a good pace. He will surely give the other drivers a run for their money, of course, if he stays in the discipline… »
The man from Le Mans also admitted to being impressed this season by the efforts of the Australian:
« I must have made 7 or 8 pole positions this season, but Power made at least 5. So it’s logical that next season he will be a serious contender for the title… »
« Then, I would bet on Justin (Wilson), who stood up to me all year and also on Robert Doornbos. »
These two drivers finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in 2007. Doornbos, in his first season in ChampCar, was one of the most surprising. Bourdais is also counting a lot on his teammate, Graham Rahal, to aim for the 2008 title.
