The Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa, believes that the new rules coming into effect next season will lead to more accidents during wet races.
Traction control was banned for 2008, and all the teams spent three days in Barcelona for private testing to best prepare their cars for this new regulation.
Massa stated that the drivers will need to be much more flexible next year, and warns the drivers that, in the absence of anti-skid systems, they will be more likely to have accidents.
« It’s interesting because with the anti-skid everything was managed with a single button whereas now the situation proves to be much more complicated. You must be as harmonious as possible, » said Massa in the columns of the Gazzetta dello Sport.
« The lap times achieved in Barcelona were good immediately, it’s a sign that we started off on the right foot. »
« But from a safety point of view, these limitations in the use of electronics represent a step backward and not progress for me: in the case of wet races, we will have many more accidents, » concluded the Brazilian.
