BMW will unveil its new car in Munich

The BMW-Sauber team will unveil its car for the 2008 season in Munich on January 14, it confirmed this Wednesday.

This presentation will take place at the new BMW vehicle delivery center in the immediate vicinity of the Olympia Tower.

The new single-seater, the F1.08, will then make its first official appearance on the Valencia circuit the following day, that is to say, on January 15th as part of testing. The BMW-Sauber team hopes that this car will bring them performance and victories.

BMW, the car manufacturer, finished as runner-up in 2007 with a total of 101 points in the championship. This ranking followed the disqualification of McLaren-Mercedes during the year.

The German team managed to establish itself in 2007 as the third force behind Ferrari and McLaren.

« Improvements can always be made in all areas, but the greatest progress must be made in terms of aerodynamics, » said team leader Mario Theissen in an interview.

« It is not a matter of eliminating weaknesses in 2008 but rather finding an additional three to five percent in all areas that can bring us to the highest level in terms of performance. It is simply a matter of fine-tuning certain parameters. We are talking more about evolution rather than revolution, » added the German.

Theissen said that work on the 2008 single-seater began in May. Their position in the constructors’ championship in 2007 forced the team to really focus on the F1.08 from mid-September onwards.
