Forsythe/Pettit Racing, which will officially merge tomorrow, announced today that they will give a test to a French driver, Franck Perera.
The team, Forsythe and RuSport, which will soon merge into one, offered this test to the Frenchman today [Thursday] and tomorrow in the absence of Paul Tracy, who has already reached his permitted quota of 3000 Miles per year.
Perera finished second in the Champ Car Atlantic championship this season – the second division of the Champcar World Series but still has slim chances of securing a seat for 2008 alongside Paul Tracy, although slim does not mean nonexistent.
Neil Micklewright, spokesperson for Forsythe/Pettit stated: « We are happy to give Franck the opportunity to drive a Champ Car. It will give us a chance to progress while he progresses himself… »
Charles Barrett – Perera’s press officer added: « Since the Atlantic season is over, Franck has been approached by several teams for the World Series, including in IRL and GP2, but he has not hidden that his preference would be towards ChampCar. »
Other names being discussed to drive the two or three cars offered by Forsythe/Pettit include another French driver, Simon Pagenaud, and Raphael Matos, the 2008 Champ Car Atlantic champion.
