N.Technology will not enter Alfa Romeo next year and will turn to another manufacturer to compete in WTCC – World Touring Car Championship.
After 18 years of a fruitful partnership, the next “Bologna Motor Show” will see the end of activities between N.technology, Alfa Romeo, and the FIAT group. This marks the end of an era since no Alfa Romeo is expected to start in 2008.
With James Thompson, WTCC driver, and Marco Melandri, Ducati rider in MotoGP, as headliners, the Motor Show marks the seventh appearance of N.Technology Alfa Romeo at the Bologna race.
« It’s truly poignant to see the end of such a fruitful relationship, » said Mauro Sipsz, the team director.
With FIAt and Alfa Romeo, we achieved numerous victories in motorsport, including six Drivers’ Championships, three Constructors’ titles, and four Teams’ titles during the ten-year history with the Alfa Romeo 156.
In 2007, the team and Thompson once again demonstrated the capabilities of the Alfa Romeo 156, with two victories, eight podiums, and a 3rd place in the WTCC Drivers’ Championship.
N.technology is currently negotiating with other manufacturers to define its activities in the FIA World Touring Car Championship – WTCC.
