Hamilton: « F1 is more fun without traction control! »

Lewis Hamilton promoted the new regulation banning traction control which will be enforced starting in 2008. Indeed, the British driver tested this technical change for the first time on a single-seater during the Jerez trials.

« It was fun. The session went very well, it felt like we were returning to normal, » said the McLaren driver.

He also said that without traction control, driving an F1 car will be much more natural for him.

Many prefer the car without traction control. Personally, and I’m being honest, I feel much more comfortable driving without traction control. He added.

« This year, even if the car was performing well, driving with traction control was something unnatural for me. I wanted the minimal level, but the team wanted to use the maximum level. I think today the situation is much more enjoyable. »

I didn’t see why F1 should be an exception to the rule, look at GP2, everything works out very well.

Hamilton also admitted that he was looking forward to racing on track with slick tires, but he will have to wait until next month to do so.

« I haven’t tried the slick tires yet. I will try them in January, and I am very eager, » concluded Hamilton.
