“I don’t remember anymore,” Ecclestone revisits his confession in the Massa case
The former boss of Formula 1 claims to have forgotten his statements regarding the Massa affair. He had declared at the time to be aware of the scandal surrounding the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.
It’s a bizarre affair. 15 years after the Singapourgate, this case is once again making headlines. For several weeks now, Felipe Massa has been involved in legal proceedings and has hired top lawyers in an attempt to seek restitution.
The Brazilian claims to have been robbed of his title in 2008. The reason being that in the Singapore Grand Prix, following the deliberate accident caused by Nelson Piquet Jr, he had to go through the pit stop again and lost valuable time. As a result, he did not score any points. He ended up losing the title a few Grand Prix later in Brazil.
Memory loss
Recently, in an interview, Bernie Ecclestone, the former CEO of F1, revealed to be aware of this cheating scandal. « We decided to do nothing, we wanted to protect the sport and save it from a huge scandal », he explained.

But today, he is backtracking. He claims to have forgotten that part. « “I don’t remember anything about all of this to be honest. I don’t remember giving that interview,” he said to Reuters news agency.
This could be a new twist in this case.
