Two upgrade packs to consider for Alfa Romeo
The Swiss team will bring new improvements to Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas' cars at Monza and Suzuka.
If some teams are going to start working on 2024, Alfa Romeo continues its development for 2023. As the competition resumes after the summer break, the Swiss team has clearly taken advantage of this time to make improvements to its car.
But they won’t arrive this weekend, in the Netherlands, but later. In Monza and then in Suzuka. « We have a plan for the season. We are waiting for the next major upgrade scheduled for Monza, and then another significant upgrade in Suzuka. So we have our plan », confirms Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the director of Sauber.
Two to three tenths per improvement
« What is important is that we were able to see that we need major upgrades, it’s not enough to win one-tenth. Therefore, you must be able to produce upgrades that allow you to take a significant step forward. »
« It’s not about micro or small developments, these are marginal gains for us. For us, it’s about every time we introduce an update that it offers us two or three tenths. It’s a challenge, because if it was easy, everyone would do it. »
Before the Dutch Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo is stuck in ninth place in the constructors’ standings with nine points, trailing Haas by two points who are in eighth place.
