Christian Horner, the team principal of the Arden team in GP2, has shared his plans for 2008 to get his team back on track after experiencing some difficulties in recent years.
A team already world champion in F3000 was very successful when Heikki Kovalainen was in the team. But since 2005, the German team has only managed to win two races.
Christian Horner thus sees 2008 as the year of renewal. The first step was accomplished with the signing of a major sponsorship contract with the Dutch company Trust.
« Arden had an unremarkable season in 2007. We only won one race, in Barcelona, and in 2008 the team must be able to win more! »
« The new sponsor will allow us to stabilize the team while Sébastian Buemi will be of great help to us this season. » commented the Briton.
Buemi is the only driver currently under contract with Arden. A second driver will be announced very soon, but for the moment, Horner looks at the 2008 season with the fear of very strong competition.
« Sébastien [Buemi] is a promising young driver, » added Horner. « He is part of the Red Bull junior program, and we hope that in 2008 he can help us frequently reach the podiums. »
« I think it’s going to be an interesting year. A new single-seater will be part of the season [the GP2-08]. It represents a great challenge for the team, which will have to adapt to it as best as possible. In any case, there will inevitably be a team above the rest, as every year. » he concluded.
