Christian Vietoris received a light warning this Saturday during the announcement of the main driver for the A1 Team Germany in New Zealand.

Christian Vietoris, champion with the team from across the Rhine last season, was indeed strongly threatened by Mickael Ammermuller, who secured their first victory of the season a few weeks ago in Zhuhai (China).

But at the end of the press conference, it was ultimately Vietoris who was preferred, thanks in particular to his experience on the New Zealand circuit of Taupo where he had started his A1GP career.

December has definitely been our best month so far. We achieved a victory that shows all our competitors that we haven’t forgotten how to win! exclaimed Willy Weber, the head of the German team.

« To fully exploit our potential, we had announced that the first third of the season would be completed with only one driver. Mickael has indeed done an excellent job for the team, but now it’s Christian [Vietoris]’s turn to make a comeback. I hope he can continue the good momentum from Ammermuller. »

Vietoris has only participated in 6 A1 GP races since the start of his career. He will therefore still be eligible for the first practice session reserved for rookies. « I noticed that during the first practice sessions on weekends we were often fast, but in qualifying, our results were not as expected. I will therefore aim to change the situation and climb back up in the rankings. »

The 2006-2007 world champion team is currently only in 8th place in the championship, trailing 32 points behind Switzerland, the leader, at mid-season.
