As the 2008 season kicks off in less than two weeks with the legendary Monte Carlo Rally, the teams are intensifying their testing to adapt to Pirelli tires. This is particularly true for the Suzuki World Rally Team, which has just appointed Akira Kawada, a former journalist who has already managed several teams, as team manager and Shusuke Inagaki as technical director, who will oversee the SX4 WRC.
The Japanese brand has decided to conduct tests in Sweden to prepare for the second round of the season, which will take place from February 8 to 10. The two drivers, Toni Gardemeister and Per-Gunnar Andersson, were thus able to familiarize themselves with the car’s behavior on Swedish roads.
« Driving a World Rally Car is really completely different from a Super 1600 of the Junior Championship, acknowledged Andersson. But I already have a good feeling at its wheel. »
« My biggest challenge is to reach the highest level, continued Andersson. But I know I can do it!
There’s not much time left for the team to develop the SX4 WRC that can quickly measure up to its competitors on the Ardèche roads…
