Andreas Zuber said today on the microphone of a British magazine that Minardi Piquet Sports – his team in GP2 – might offer him the crown in 2008.
The 24-year-old Austrian, who will be in his third year in the F1 feeder series with Minardi, is indeed very optimistic about his team’s strong form this year.
« I tried three teams last year in November during private testing. In my opinion, the Minardi Piquet cars were perfect, » declared Zuber.
The ex-Isport driver added that reliability will be decisive: « Last season, they had an impressive level of reliability and I have complete confidence in the team to hope for a good championship. »
Alongside Timo Glock last season, the Austrian finished his 2007 season in 9th place in the championship. He has already won two races in the discipline in two years but is still uncertain about his future in Formula 1. His place in the Honda young driver development program is indeed in question.
