The sky was very threatening this morning when the two Citroën C4 WRCs of Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena and Dani Sordo/Marc Martí left the Valence service park heading towards Ardèche. After an initial loop of three stages consisting of St Pierreville-Col de la Fayolle, Burzet-Lachamp Raphaël, and St Martial-Beleac, the Citroën teams returned to Valence, having consolidated their positions at the top two spots of the provisional overall standings.

Sébastien Loeb: The morning went well. I started strong in the first stage to create gaps. I tried to drive in the “cleanest” way possible, without pushing the car too hard or overworking my tires. I could see at the finish that the Pirellis had held up well. Then, I continued at a slightly less intense pace, maintaining a safety margin.

Dani Sordo: This first loop was not easy to grasp. It was tricky to know what grip we were going to encounter. From one corner to the next, the grip was different and it changed regularly. The numerous black tarmac patches were the most difficult to negotiate, as they were often the most slippery. I felt more confident in ES4, hence my best time. »
