Andy Soucek announced today, with the support of his team, that he has signed a contract for the 2008 season with FMS – Fisichella Motor Sport – the team of the former Renault F1 driver.
The 22-year-old Spaniard finished 4th in the World Series by Renault in 2006 before joining the ranks of GP2, the feeder series for F1, last year.
With DPR (David Price Racing), the young driver achieved 4 podiums in 2007 and admits to being happy about this transfer: « Participating in the 2008 championship alongside FMS is a great opportunity for me. These years are the most important in my professional career. I really need to be in the best possible team. »
« I am eager to work with my teammate – Adrian [Valles] – and we are going to push very hard throughout the entire season together. »
Giancarlo Fisichella, the team owner, added: « Andy [Soucek] and Adrian [Valles] will form the most competitive line-up we have had since HMS began in the championship.
