Tiago Monteiro returned to the Estoril circuit for a day of testing with SEAT Sport. It was the first time the Portuguese driver drove the SEAT León TDI he will use during the 2008 WTCC season.
The work of the Portuguese driver was notably more intense in the afternoon, as the track dried up. He was then able to test new shock absorbers, which gave him a good feeling. By the end of the day, he expressed satisfaction with the development and his adaptation to the new car.
« The TDi version is 80 kilos heavier than the León TFSI with a petrol engine when I drove it last year. The sensations on board are therefore very different, » declared Monteiro.
« Furthermore, the FIA has banned the use of the flat floor which was very useful to us in fast corners. This inevitably penalizes us, but we are on the right track and everything indicates that our results are and will be positive. »
The next testing session for Tiago Monteiro’s SEAT León TDI will take place at the Albacete circuit in Spain.
