The Audi team has just finished fine-tuning its 2008 driver lineup in the DTM series. They have just revealed that Katherine Legge, Olivier Jarvis, and Markus Winkelhock will all be racing this season.

« There are many big names among our drivers, which shows how much interest Audi has in the DTM, » said Audi Motorsport boss Wolfgang Ullrich.

« We have a strategy aimed at rejuvenating our team of drivers, so logically, to promote the rise of young talents so that they become true stars in this series. »

With Markus Winkelhock, 27 years old, Audi has just teamed up with one of the most promising young German drivers. He gained his racing experience last year when he participated in a sensational race for a Formula 1 debut at the Nürburgring. He also delivered strong performances in DTM as a substitute when Tom Kristensen was injured, and later with Audi’s subsidiary team, Futurecom TME. All of this worked in his favor to make him an Audi driver.

Another quality recruit, 27-year-old British driver Katherine Legge, can boast of following in the footsteps of Michèle Mouton, Tamara Vidali, and Vanina Ickx. Over the past two years, she has created a small revolution in the North American Champ Car series. Indeed, Legge is considered the most experienced among women, having participated in what can be called the American Formula 1. The British driver has also participated in her first Formula 1 tests.

Finally, Audi places its trust in Oliver Jarvis, 24, who is considered one of Britain’s brightest drivers. In November 2007, he won the famous Formula 3 Grand Prix in Macau. Jarvis has also recorded several impressive victories for his adopted nation in the A1GP series.

The distribution of drivers at Audi in 2008 will be as follows:

Abt (4 single-seaters 2008): Mattias Ekström, Tom Kristensen, Timo Scheider, Martin Tomczyk

Rosberg (2 cars 2007): Mike Rockenfeller, Markus Winkelhock

Phoenix (2 single-seaters 2007): Oliver Jarvis, Alexandre Prémat

Futurecom TME (1 single-seater 2006): Katherine Legge
