The Russian team Bears Motorsport announced today that they will participate in the entire 2008 WTCC season.
The organization will launch two LADA 110 2.0L for the occasion starting from the third round of the championship, which will take place in Valencia (Spain) on May 18. The team’s homologation procedure by the FIA is currently underway.
The Bears Motorsport, which participated in the WTCC rounds in Zandvoort (Netherlands) and Valencia (Spain) with three BMW 320si cars, has already appointed its drivers. They will be the Russian Viktor Shapovalov, 43 years old and who has previously driven a LADA in the Russian Touring Championship, and the Dutchman Jaap van Lagen, 31 years old and winner of the 2006 Eurocup Renault Mégane.
« We are an independent team, although we have received fairings, some necessary spare parts, and technical support from LADA. In addition, LADA technicians help us with the documents we need for car homologation, » explained the team manager – Maxim Maksimenko.
During the season, the team will be based at its Dutch workshop in Franeker and hopes to make its first appearance at the official Valencia test on April 15th and 16th.
According to the WTCC
