Ammermuller had repeatedly pushed the car in front of him, the Dutchman Bleekemolen’s car. Two laps from the finish and after three bumps, the Netherlands’ single-seater finally went off the track, but without serious consequences, still finishing 5th.
« He’s just crazy, » commented Bleekemolen. « He pushes the drivers at least once per race, and in this case, it was three times for me. This makes it so that, at one point, he made me get off my trajectory! »
« I thought I was going to lose all my positions, but fortunately, they stopped the race and I kept my 5th place! I never want to speak to that driver again in my life! »
Ammermuller, however, tried to protest and claim his innocence, without success: “It wasn’t my fault,” said the German. “He was coming in at my level at every braking point, braking so suddenly. As a result, I touched him a bit, but it wasn’t my fault.”
With this disqualification, the United States team and Jonathan Summerton score the final point. France thus finishes 11th.
