David Price Racing, better known as DPR, announced drivers Diego Nunes and Michael Herck to participate in the GP2 Series season as full-time drivers.
Currently, Nunes and Herck are both participating in the GP2 Asia season, with the former already in the DPR team, replacing Andy Soucek, while Herck is currently driving and will continue for three more weekends for FMS International, Fisichella’s team.
« We are very happy to have been able to sign Diego [Nunes] and Michael [Herck] for the upcoming season, » said team owner, David Price.
« They are both very talented young drivers, and we will work hand in hand to develop their skills. With their accumulated experience in GP2 Asia and the initial tests in April, we will all be ready for this new season… »
The young Brazilian from DPR, Nunes, expressed his delight at continuing with this team after the GP2 Asia. He has been in GP2 only since this season after winning the F3000 last season and prefers this team to Campos, with which he participated in the first race of the 2008 season.
« DPR has a very rich history in motorsport and I am delighted to continue with them after the Asian Series, » he admitted.
« Andy [Soucek] demonstrated in Dubai the capabilities of the car with his good position, and I will have to learn quickly to do just as well. I am also very grateful to the team for giving me this opportunity. »
Herck, on his side, believes he made the right choice with DPR to participate in his first full season of GP2. The 19-year-old Romanian doesn’t have much experience. Last year, he participated in the World Series by Renault.
« DPR proved last season that they are very competitive, and I know that they are very, very professional with a good team spirit, » he confirms. « I am looking forward to working with them next season. »
