Zandvoort, a future in alternation?
The contract between the Dutch Grand Prix and F1 will end after the race in 2025. Discussions to extend it are underway, but Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of the sport, does not rule out an alternating arrangement for the future.
Nothing is clear for the future. Returning to the calendar since 2021, the Grand Prix of the Netherlands has a short-term contract. This contract will expire at the end of the year 2025. Discussions to extend it are currently taking place. Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of F1, is satisfied with the race.
« You now see that promoters of other races want to follow this example – and let’s remember that Zandvoort receives no support from the government. Something fantastic has been achieved here », the Italian assures.
With the pressure from new candidates, the future of some races may be uncertain. Spa and Zandvoort are among them. But, a solution could be found to keep these Grand Prix in the future. « The future of Zandvoort is promising anyway. During the conversation on Friday morning, we already discussed the future. Everything is still open. »
(E) Either we continue in this manner, or we alternate every two years with a different race. We will discuss together which option is best. But I repeat, everything seems to be going very well. I cannot imagine that our cooperation will come to an end soon.
