Trulli, the man in form this new season?

Jarno Trulli for Toyota insists that his team could be the surprise of the 2008 season after the TF108 proved to be more than competitive during winter testing.

After a disappointing 2007 season, Trulli believes he sees the light at the end of the tunnel and that he is ready to fight.

« I wouldn’t be surprised if we are labeled the surprise of the year. The greatest satisfaction is seeing smiling faces in a team that has experienced two years of disappointment, » declared Trulli to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Finally, we feel improvements and have the sense that something is changing.

Ferrari and McLaren are on another planet, but we can fight to join the group that includes BMW, Renault, Williams, and Red Bull.

He added: « A driver immediately realizes whether he has a good car to drive or not, and from the first tests, I realized that I had another single-seater in my hands. »

« It was in Bahrain where we realized we were on the right track. Admittedly, Ferrari was stronger, but we improved and our times from last year were beaten. »

The Italian believes he still needs a little time to work on his physical shape, but he is adamant that he will be able to compensate for any potential issues.

« We also still need to improve for the qualifications but that’s not a problem because it’s only one lap and I’m able to do something, » he commented.

The Toyota driver once again praised Frank Dernie, expert engineer, who joined the team as a consultant.

He is full of ideas. But the thing I liked the most during the pre-season is that the team listened to me more, and we are starting to see some results.
