McLaren has not been relegated to the last position in the pit straight despite being excluded from the constructors’ championship last year due to a spying affair.
The Woking team lost all of its points in this championship in 2007, so logically the team should have been placed in the last position in the paddocks.
However, after lengthy discussions between the F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone, and the various teams, the 5th garage was allocated to McLaren for the entire season.
The first cars arriving in Melbourne this Sunday and just a week before the Australian race, the McLaren garage has been placed between that of Williams and Red Bull Racing.
Some believe it’s because of McLaren’s very large motorhome that the team wasn’t placed at the end of the pit lane straight…
