Anthony Davidson openly admits to being relieved to see his Super-Aguri team present in Australia after weeks of uncertainty.
After a large number of failed winter tests due to financial difficulties and an eleventh-hour takeover by the Magma Group, Davidson must have doubted his future as a racing driver more than once.
“It’s wonderful. It’s a huge relief to be here,” admitted the Briton.
« I know it’s a bit negative to say this, but everyone on the team is feeling ‘a bit out of it’ after our arrival in Melbourne. »
« The events became worrying in recent weeks. Getting on the plane to come here was an intense joy. As for the competition, we know absolutely nothing, but it was the concern of the winter. »
Davidson also admits to having prepared for the worst and that he had researched other teams in case Super-Aguri did not return in 2008.
« During this winter, I could not leave my house because at any moment, I had to be ready for any eventuality that might have arisen for me, » he added.
« We are very, very limited in terms of spare parts. We will likely face difficulties during the free practice sessions, it will be tough for us. »
« We are slowly emerging from this period of general hilarity. We will try to do our best in the situation we find ourselves in. »
