Judging by these initial tests in Melbourne, it seems that Red Bull Racing has come a long way… And the direction taken turns out to be the right one. The Austrian team is the sensation of the day, and all eyes are on them tonight!
The native of the country in the person of Marc Webber, by continuing in this direction, could set the stands alight on Sunday. He finishes his two practice sessions in the Top 5 and even clinches the silver medal in the afternoon. By completing over 50 laps, the Australian is in a good position for the events to come.
His teammate, David Coulthard, is not undeserving. He indeed finished 13th this morning, but a gearbox problem needs to be considered because once the issue was resolved, he was also at the top. 5th, at the dawn of the third free practice, with just over 30 laps completed…
Marc Webber – 5th and 2nd
« It’s not too bad! The fuel loads on the different single-seaters don’t yet allow us to know exactly where we stand. There are certainly four or five cars that are faster than ours. »
« We will, therefore, roll up our sleeves tonight to properly prepare for the final practice sessions and tomorrow’s qualifying. The weather is very windy on the track, but this issue affects everyone. »
David Coulthard – 13th and 5th
« We lost time during the first test session due to a gearbox problem, which resulted in us being delayed for the second test session. This situation proved to be very frustrating as our reliability was nearly perfect during the winter tests. »
We had a busy schedule this afternoon, but we managed to complete it and make up for some of the delays from the morning.
