Christijan Albers tested an Audi A4 DTM for the second time this year with the Futurecom TME-racing team. According to the latest rumors, the Dutchman is on track to become a driver for the team this year.

The ex-Formula 1 driver has not been very active in recent years, and a full DTM season would only be beneficial to his sabbatical years. Although nothing is decided, he remains hopeful but cautious: “I won’t refuse the chance to race in DTM. It’s a great championship, but first I need to make a decision for myself to know what to do this season, and I need to make this decision as soon as possible,” said Albers.

« Returning to racing with the DTM championship would be an excellent way to make a fresh start. » Continues the Minardi driver and then Spyker tester. « To be honest, after my years in F1, I wanted to quit competition completely! »

The Dutch driver remains cautious, especially since he has no sponsor to offer his future team. This is a significant disadvantage in the German touring championship, which is constantly in need of funding.

« I don’t have any sponsors at the moment. And finding new ones will be very difficult to drive a 2006 car. Especially since I’m not sure of being selected, as the decision also largely depends on Colin Kolles.

If Christijan Albers is made a permanent team member, he would have Katherine Legge as a teammate. She has a 2007 version Audi A4. Enough to already create tensions within the team.

More information in a few weeks.
