Force India Review – 100% Retirements but Positive Aspects…

The two Force India drivers were unable to finish the race, but the achievements made during the free practice sessions will remain from this Australian weekend.

In fact, the Indian team can be confident. An observation: The team seems far more competitive than the former Spyker at the same time last year. This time, there were some collisions and a hydraulic problem that destroyed the drivers’ chances, but the meeting is set for next week in Malaysia.

Adrian Sutil – Retirement:

A big disappointment, especially with the way the race turned out. At the start, I was aiming for the 13th position. But then I had a hydraulic pressure problem.

« I had to return to the pits and at that moment my race was over. We are hoping for much more in Malaysia, but I think we have shown an improvement compared to last year, particularly in the long runs. I am really convinced that we can do better at Sepang. »

Giancarlo Fisichella – Retirement:

« I am very disappointed because my race ended at the first corner as another driver came charging into my car. It is very frustrating especially considering this race where there was a possibility to score points. It was a real opportunity and I am really disappointed. Let’s hope for more in Malaysia. »

Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director:

« A very disappointing first round for Force India and obviously a big missed opportunity to score points, and I’m sure many press releases will confirm what I’m saying. Giancarlo was pushed out of the race at the first corner with a driver who was on the outside, and with Glock and Piquet on the inside. He had nowhere to go. »

« With Adrian, we had a hydraulic failure; since yesterday we were making small modifications to his car, this might be the cause of the problem. It’s a shame because he was very competitive and could have achieved a good result. But overall, it’s a positive weekend in terms of pace, and the car will achieve better results in Malaysia. »

Vijay Mallya – Co-owner:

« I was very satisfied with this weekend, despite the retirements after this astonishing race. However, I am delighted with the pace we showed in free practice 3. Although qualifying was disappointing, last year Spyker was among the last teams, but this year, we were in the middle of the grid. »
